50 Years of Camphill Blair Drummond

Where Our Story Began

For 50 years, Camphill Blair Drummond has been shaped by the people who have lived, worked, volunteered, supported and grown alongside the community. While buildings, workshops and services have evolved over time, the true story of Camphill Blair Drummond has always been the story of people.

Across five decades, countless individuals have helped shape community life through their ideas, relationships, creativity, determination and care for one another. Their experiences, memories and contributions continue to influence who we are today.

"Many arrived intending to stay for a short time and found their lives changed in unexpected ways."

As you explore these pages, we invite you to discover the people, moments and milestones that have helped make Camphill Blair Drummond what it is today.

Stories from our Community

The exhibition tells the story of our shared journey. The stories that follow bring that journey to life through the voices of people who have experienced it first-hand.

From founders and former co-workers to volunteers, employees, families and supporters, each story offers a personal reflection on belonging, friendship, purpose and community.

"It was good to see community life all connected."

The Early Years of Camphill Blair Drummond

One of the most significant chapters in our story comes from Georg Schad, who helped establish Camphill Blair Drummond in its earliest days. His reflections provide a unique insight into the vision, determination and shared effort that helped transform an ambitious idea into a thriving community.

"It was a wonderfully enriching life for all of us, from many different backgrounds and cultures."
